Job Description
Leffler Consulting is seeking a Senior Audit Manager to join our team in Springfield, VA. The Audit Manager will be responsible for supporting the development of the overall audit strategy (audit coaching) for the DoD customer. The audit strategy includes audit risk management, internal controls development, remediation strategy development, and responding to IPA requests. This position is onsite and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.
Duties
- Advise the DoD customer on audit remediation strategies that support compliance with DoD specific accounting laws and regulations and audit compliance.
- Prepare both internal and external position papers in accordance with federal requirements and accounting standards to reflect the accounting activities and operations of the program.
- Determine if financial transactions and associated financial processes are consistent with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and applicable laws and regulations. Additionally, determine if transactions are processed in compliance with the United States Standard General Ledger definitions (USSGL).
- Analyze and interpret financial data to detect trends and identify necessary corrective action and processes to improve accuracy and utility of the General Ledger (GL) and subsidiary accounts.
- Analyze trends/anomalies in accounting system transactions to determine effect on the General Ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Assist in the development of an internal control framework that mitigates risk and is operationally effective.
- Analyze and assess current and historical financial data for the purpose of developing special reports for use in improving the efficiency, accuracy, and usefulness of financial reporting.
- Develop audit methodologies to support the existence, completeness, and valuation of the organization’s fixed asset portfolio.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management-related field
- Must have one of the following certifications: CPA, CIA, CFE, CGFM, CDFM
Required Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in leading Financial Management services and related projects. DoD/Intelligence Community financial management experience, or Federal or Commercial financial statement audit experience is preferred.
- Minimum 6 years federal financial management experience in roles such as accountant, financial auditor, financial analyst, or financial system analyst
- Minimum 6 years of experience performing one or more of the following:
– Federal Financial Reporting
– General Ledger Analysis
– Audit Liaison
– Audit Remediation
– Process Improvement through Automation
– Documenting and Testing Internal controls Over Financial Reporting or Improper Payments in accordance with FMFIA, PILA, and OMB Circular A-123
– Determining value of capital assets - Experience with interpretation and application of DoD FIAR Guidance. Intermediate to expert level knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR), and Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) regulations
- Intermediate to expert level Microsoft Office proficiency with specific focus on Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Strong analytic background
